Mechanical Clock 3D App Reviews

Ive been wanting an animated desktop for a long time. This clock was perfect! Not only is it gorgeous, but its functional too. Well worth the few dollars spent. I wish I didnt have to go to their website to download the program to make it a desktop, but I understand its a good way for Apple to keep up a stable environment.

I dont normally leave reviews but this one definately merits it. I love this app. It is wonderful eye candy to sit and watch. I get numerous compliments about it at work. I highly recommend this app!

This clock is a work of art. The detail and animation are incredible. I only wish I had a real one just like this hanging on my wall.

It has been running on my desktop and as a screensaver for three weeks now without a hitch. Activity Monitor indicates that it uses 6% of my CPU; that is not noticeable to me and the fans in my iMac never seem to come on. This means it is very well behaved and a joy to see in motion. It is also very pleasing to hear it chime on the hour. Recommended!

Preferences offer to limit display of clock on only one desktop, but the choice doesnt work. The display can be on all desktops or none (in Mountain Lion). I dont want the clock on all my desktops.

This app is pretty stinkin cool! Great graphics and I like the different colors to choose from.

Love this app. A feature I would like to see in the future would be separate volume settings for the chimes and the ticking...

This app works great not only as a screen saver, but also as a background. It takes up very little resources and it is better than random desktops. It is also a great conversation starter as well, for people always ask me where I got it. The only thing I wish, is that more colors and styles were avaliable for the clock face, for as cool as this is, unless I have it alternating upon startup, it does loose its graphical appeal after a while. I gave this 5 starts because it is a perfect background app, not because of what it doesn’t have, so please remember, if you want a background with more than two colors, this isn’t it… if you want a functional background that takes up few resources, this is perfect for you.

This is an app that really exploits the resolution and striking clarity of the Retinal Display. If you have one, get this!

This is a great app! Love the detail of the inner workings and the options for sounds. I use this as my wallpaper for all my Macs. I highly recommend it.

Overall, this is a very solid app with stunning and realistic graphics. You could sit staring at the screen for hours, and every minute, shift your gaze on to something different and unique. My only gripe with this is that the sound samples are very poor, and sound like they were recorded with a plastic usb microphone. In the big picture, sound isn’t all that important, since most people don’t want to have a constant ticking in the background while they are trying to do something else; however, in my opinion, better sound quality would make the app even more enticing.

This is a gorgeous app. The ONLY thing I would love to see (and would give 5 stars for) is a brighter glow on the red tips of the three hands. In the gold setting, the hands blend in with the rest of the clock, and while I love this app, the way it looks, and it IS functional, its not ENTIRELY functional for me. It takes me quite a few seconds to register the location of the hands, so just a quick glance doesnt quite cut it for my particular display and settings. That said, I still love it and dont regret my purchase.

Looks pretty, but retina support would be welcome. Also a bit more motion than Id like on my desktop, although thats probably the most realistic.

Wow. Very, very nice looking. I have checked out a lot of animated wallpapers and have never found anything I really wanted to keep. This one is definitely a keeper. Nice work. A couple of suggestions. Someone mentioned offering more customization, and I like that. Maybe let me chance the color of the hands to make them more visible at a glance. Maybe let me control the intensity of the animation on the numbers of the face. I would like to have the option in the prefs of having either the animated wallpaper or the screen saver, but not necessarily both. Lastly, and I don’t know whether apple allows this, but it would be cool if controls could show up in system preferences rather than in it’s own icon. Otherwise, great app. Five stars easily, and I would give it more if I could.

This app works perfectly. I love the look of it.

Wonderful ap but unfortunately when using as wallpaper it sometimes moves off to the side and/or just flat out crashes. Easy to restart, but annoying.

This is absolutely freaking amazing!!! It looks so beautifully awesome. I will now be looking at your other applications and if the quality is just as good I will be purchasing much more. As a Microsoft person I am hoping that you also have this available for Windows, and if you do I will be telling everyone who is "Operating System Challenged” (i.e. Windows user LOL) where to find it. Their systems may crash of course and they will have to wade through DLL Hell to figure it out. LOL ROFL Yes, we jab each other in fun constantly. My co-workers/friends like to derisively call Apple users “Fan Boys”. I tell them that they are right, I am a fan of Apple products, because they work so extremely well, are stable, and you know it will work every time you turn the power on. So, Heck yeah, if that is their definition of a “Fan Boy” then I am certainly that. Maybe that is exactly why you have never heard the term “Fan Boy” being used in reference to Windows users. ;-)

Fun, realistic, beautiful chimes. If you like the sound of a ticking clock, this is for you. The graphics are quite nice. I like being able to see the internal movement. It really makes the whole thing much more interesting. This will suffice for now as I would love to have a clock like this in my living room some day. It keeps me mindful of how time, is literally, ticking by.
